Sherwood Animal Shelter has begun to prepare for the annual Sherwood Shelter Pet Fair  which is to be held at Sherwood Forest on Saturday April 13, 2013 from 10 A.M. to 3 P. M. Last year the event was a huge success with lots of community donated items for a silent auction, booth vendors for all sorts of pet related services, droves of devoted pets and owners, and last but certainly not least, way too many classy and cute irresistible rescue pets available for adoption!

Argenta's Annual Mardi Gras Party is Monday, Feb. 11, at Starving Artist Cafe. Tickets are $35 per person - includes incredible gumbo, jambalaya, soaked salad, and red beans and rice by Chef Jason Morell, plus all the beads and feather masks you envie!

The annual Hoedown starts at 6:00pm Saturday October 13th at the Hearts & Hooves facility in Sherwood. Ticket prices include: dinner, live music featuring Chuck Gatlin and Canvas, silent and live auctions with master of ceremonies Craig O’Neill and most importantly a fashion show by our own special equestrians. Smell the steaks cookin’ on the grill, warm yourself by the fires, meet the horses and prepare for holiday shopping with all the exciting auction items.

Hearts & Hooves, a 501(c)(3) non-profit therapeutic riding center, bringing individuals with special needs together with horses in a program that not only furnishes the thrill of riding, but also develops coordination, balance, flexibility and self-esteem while enjoying a physical activity in a social environment.

During an evening newscast at a local television station, a slender gray striped cat hops upon the news desk. Anchor Liz Massey smiles and says, “Oh, here’s Joey.” The cat sits on the desk and gives the camera a green-eyed stare as Liz and fellow-anchor Craig O’Neil carry on with the newscast. The privileged feline is Joey the Garden cat who is a staff member of KTHV, the CBS affiliate in Little Rock, Arkansas. Joey has become a big TV celebrity in Arkansas and his fame is spreading nationally.
