Sherwood man arrested after dozens of dogs removed from home

SHERWOOD, Ark. (KTHV) - A Sherwood man was arrested after 31 dogs were removed from his home Tuesday.

According to a Sherwood police report, when an officer arrived on scene, he could smell a strong odor of pet urine and feces from the street. The narrative details that adult dogs, as well as puppies less than three weeks of age, were gathered and removed from the home.

One important safety tip: don't leave your pets in the car, as it can get as cold as a refrigerator. Veterinarians also recommend investing in some winter gear for your animals, and keeping them layered.

Drink beer, eat hot dogs for charity

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (HSPC/DBBC) -  BREWS and BARKS will be held on September 13th, hosted by the Humane Society of Pulaski County and Diamond Bear Brewing Company. The event will take place at the new location of Diamond Bear at 600 N. Broadway in North Little Rock from 2-5pm.

Tickets for BREWS and BARKS, the only dog-friendly craft beer tasting in central Arkansas, are available at the website, www.warmhearts.org,  for $25 ($30 at gate).  The cost of admission entitles participants to unlimited beer tasting and sampling of hot dogs.  Participating craft beer breweries include: New Belgium, Boulevard, Saddlebock, Abita, Sam Adams, Mother's and Diamond Bear.

Arkansas State Fair brings parade and Ugly Dog Contest


LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Since it's the 75th Anniversary of the Arkansas State Fair this year, they're doing something special by bringing back the parade for the first time since 1983.

The fair kicks off on October 10 and lasts through the 19, and the parade will take place on Saturday morning.

The most exciting news about the fair is that registration is now officially open for the Ugly Dog Contest.

"Sherwoof Dog Day" this Saturday in Sherwood

This Saturday, July 12, the Sherwood Young Professionals will host an event to raise funds for the Sherwood Animal Shelter called "Sherwoof Dog Day."

This event will be held from 9-12 at the Sherwood Dog Park located at 800 Fairway Avenue in Sherwood.  There will be dogs available for adoption, dog contests, a "Smooches from Pooches" booth, pet product vendors, hot dogs for sale, and free bottled water courtesy of First Arkansas Bank and Trust.  

All proceeds will go to help the Sherwood Animal Shelter purchase a much needed mobile adoption unit.

Animal Ambassadors Show at the Little Rock Zoo

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- One of the biggest attractions for Arkansas kids every summer is the Little Rock Zoo. The zoo isn't just fun, it can also be a learning experience.

Susan Altrui and Hannah Baker shared more about the Animal Ambassadors Show along with Barnadette the barn owl and Boo the opossum.

They are apart of the daily shows at the Little Rock Zoo you can see live in action.

The zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, seniors 60+ and active duty military get $2 off regular admission, children 12 and under are $9, and children under 12 months are free.
