5th Annual Be the Church Sunday

SHERWOOD, Ark. - Cornerstone Bible Fellowship will not be meeting, at least in its traditional fashion, on Sunday, August 2. 

On that day, church members will be out in the communities in central Arkansas -Sherwood, North Little Rock, Jacksonville and Little Rock- Worshipping by Serving. Declared as a day in which Cornerstone members say to one another, "Don't go to church, be the church."

Cornerstone people will be at 15 different service sites helping the hungry and the needy. They will be assisting many organizations such as Estgate Terrace Play Day, Hearts and Hooves and St. Joseph's. 

The Cornerstone Bible Fellowhip is a non-denominational Christian church located at 7351 Warden Road in Sherwood. For more information, contact MIke Haigh at (501) 690-7166.

Sherwood shooting causes concern for neighbors


SHERWOOD, Ark. (KTHV) – The Sherwood Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred at two different apartment complexes on Wednesday night, and officials believe the two are connected to one another.

Police say shots were fired at Park Crest Apartments around 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 22. They are also investigating a related incident at Links Apartments that occurred around the same time.

Police have released little information, other than that a juvenile was involved. It's not clear if the juvenile is the victim or the shooter.

Both of the incidents are raising questions about safety in the area.

"It was just shocking, you know, to see a shooting in the neighborhood," said Calvin Hinton, who has lived at Park Crest Apartments for over a year.

Robinson Theater to host Harry Potter movie marathon

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - A magical world of mythical creatures, wands and flying brooms that left the world spellbound is coming to the Robinson Theater.

 

This local hotspot is hosting a week long marathon featuring all eight Harry Potter films in celebration of its July 31 birthday.

Suspect in Foodbank worker's death now charged with murder


SHERWOOD, Ark. (KTHV) – Police are now saying that the man arrested in an Arkansas Foodbank employee's death has been charged with capital murder.

According to Lt. Jamie Michaels, Michael Deshun Murphy, 20, has been charged with capital murder in the death of Leon Hawkison, Jr.

Murphy was previously arrested for theft and robbery and robbery charged with aggravated robbery, theft by receiving, and fraudulent use of a credit card.

Police have confirmed that the person depicted in surveillance footage released Thursday is Murphy.

Hawkison's body was found at The Links apartment complex in Sherwood on Wednesday. His Toyota Camry was discovered missing, but has since been found by investigators.

NLR church hosts community fun day

NLR church hosts community fun day

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The Bailey Chapel Baptist Church of North Little Rock will host its annual fun day on August 15 for the community to enjoy. 

From 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. the church will host their community fun day with the goal of reaching out to the area to inform, instruct and encourage. 

There will be several activities for the people of all ages to take part in.
