Police arrest man in Arkansas Foodbank worker's death

SHERWOOD, Ark. (KTHV) – Police said they have made an arrest in connection to the death of an Arkansas Foodbank employee.

According to the Sherwood Police Department, Michael Deshun Murphy, 20, was arrested for theft and robbery in connection to the murder of Leon Hawkison, Jr. He has been charged with aggravated robbery, theft by receiving, and fraudulent use of a credit card.

Police have confirmed that the person depicted in surveillance footage released Thursday is Murphy.

Little Rock, Ark. – Since 2009 Brandon D. Campbell has been producing Little Rock Fashion Week (LRFW), and this year will be unlike any other experience.

July 13-July 18 will be a week filled with memorable fashion moments. On July 18, LRFW will hold its BIG Night exclusive fashion event on the fourth block of Main Street in downtown Little Rock. It will mark the return of Little Rock’s very own TV news personality Keristen Holmes as the show host.

“I couldn’t be more excited to go back home to host LRFW Big Night”, says Holmes. Holmes, a local southern news anchor, is how one would describe her, “I’m just a girl from Pike who made it.”

Holmes is a North Little Rock native. Holmes states, “As a high school student, I was involved in every activity from cheerleading to competitive speech.” At North Little Rock High she was her own renaissance woman in the making.

Police release photo of suspect behind Sherwood murder


SHERWOOD, Ark. (KTHV) - The Sherwood Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding someone who may have information regarding the murder of Leon Hawkison Jr.

Hawkison, 41, was found dead at The Links apartment complex in Sherwood on Wednesday.

Police obtained footage from an Exxon gas station at the intersection of Shackleford and Markham around 8 p.m. that same day showing someone that police believe has information regarding the death of Hawkison. The person they are looking for is the black male wearing a white shirt in the photograph.

Anyone with information about this subject or the homicide of Leon Hawkison Jr. is urged to contact the Sherwood Police Department at (501) 835-1425.

Man found dead at apartment complex, car missing

SHERWOOD, Ark. (KTHV) – Sherwood police said a man was found dead Wednesday morning at an apartment complex.

According to Lt. Jamie Michaels, 41-year-old Leon Hawkison, Jr., was found dead at the Links Apartments sometime on July 8. In addition, his 2013 black Toyota Camry with Arkansas license plate 225 WTN was discovered missing.

Police are currently investigating the Hawkison's death as a homicide.

Battle of the Badges Blood Drive

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Little Rock and North Little Rock's finest will be hosting the annual "Battle of the Badges Blood Drive" for American Red Cross on Friday. 

There is reportedly always a big need for blood donations during the holiday weekend, so North Little Rock Officials began an annual blood drive to help. 

The North Little Rock Police and the North Little Rock Fire Department will be competing and against Little Rock police and the Little Rock Fire Department for the team with the most blood donations. 

The blood drive will be held in the ballroom of the Patrick Henry Hays Center from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. While all blood donors are needed, the type 'O' is most needed. 

There will be free t-shirts being given out, as wells as plenty of food and drinks.
