Police looking for people in counterfeit money case

SHERWOOD, Ark. (KTHV) – The Sherwood Police Department has confirmed a rash of counterfeit bills showing up in the city and is asking the public to help identify two persons of interest in the case.

On August 8, a couple, believed to be Michael Ryan Powers, 30, and Ashton Courtney Scott, 29, entered the Sherwood Dollar General located at 9801 Highway 107 and purchased two Red Bull drinks with a counterfeit $50 bill.

Powers is described having brown hair and green eyes, standing 5'7" tall and weighing 174 pounds. Scott is 5'2", weighing 115 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes.

Police stated that Scott did receive change from the cashier following the purchase.
