Students from all over Ark. will compete in State Spelling Bee

CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - The best spellers in the state will come together to compete at the Arkansas State Spelling Bee, which could take the winner to nationals in Washington D.C.

The competition will be held Feb. 28 in the Reynolds Performance Hall on the University of Central Arkansas campus in Conway. Registration will start at 7:30 a.m. and the competition will begin at 9 a.m. 

The competition will consist of 60 county spelling bee winners in second through eighth grade that will be competing for an all-expense-paid trip to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C., in May. 

The other prizes will be Kindles for the top three finishers, Amazon gift cards and Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionaries.

WEST LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The first annual West Little Rock Food Truck Festival is expected to really thaw things out Saturday.

They have several vendors scheduled to set up at the festival including Katmundu MoMo, Hot Rod Wieners, Waffle Wagon, Beast, The Pie Hole and many more.

No matter what your preference of food, the festival should have it. 

The West Little Rock Food Truck Festival will be Saturday, Feb. 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Chenal Pointe at The Divide off 6400 Divide Parkway. 

There are chances of freezing rain so be sure to dress warm.

UCA television station available through U-verse

UCA television station available through U-verse

CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - A station previously only available in Conway will no spread to various parts of Arkansas. 

The University of Central Arkansas' Channel 6 television station is now available on U-verse, Channel 99.

“I'm extremely excited to be able to reach a new audience through Channel 6's original programming,” said Chris Churchill, director of Channel 6 Television. “Now, thanks to AT&T U-verse, UCA students, family and fans can experience our programming from anywhere in central Arkansas.”

Channel 6 will cover from Little-Rock to Pine Bluff, including Benton, Bryant, Cammack Village, Conway, Haskell, Jacksonville, Little Rock, Maumelle, Pulaski County, Shannon Hills, Sherwood and Searcy.

March for Life event marks 42nd anniversary for Roe v. Wade

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Arkansas Right to Life will host the 37th annual March for Life on Sunday, Jan. 18 to mark the 42nd anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion.

The march will be located on West Capitol between Battery and Wolfe Streets, behind the State Capitol.

Wayne Mays, president of Arkansas Right to Life, will lead the march.

The keynote speaker will be Gov. Asa Hutchinson. U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton, District U.S. Congressman French Hill, Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin and many other pro-life officials will attend the march. 

“The 2014 General Elections were very good for unborn children in our state and nation” said Executive Director Rose Mimms.  “In Arkansas we have a 100% Pro-Life Congressional representation in the U.S. House, U.S. Senate, the State Capitol and have a pro-life majority in the AR General Assembly.”
