NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Approximately 130 soldiers with the Arkansas National Guard's 77th Theater Aviation Brigade will be honored with a sendoff ceremony in preparation for deployment to Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn.

The unit will depart the state this weekend en route to Fort Hood, Texas for mobilization training.

The unit's sendoff ceremony will take place at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17. The unit departs at 8 a.m. the following Sunday.

The unit will conduct a brief training period at Fort Hood prior to deploying overseas. The deployment is expected to last a year.

With this week's mobilizations, the Arkansas National Guard will have a total of approximately 400 soldiers and airmen mobilized in support of operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo.
