Entergy Charitable Foundation announces new grant deadlines

 LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Entergy)  – Entergy Arkansas shareholders renewed their commitment to improving the communities Entergy serves by investing $3.2 million to fund the Entergy Charitable Foundation grant programs for 2014. The company also announced the consolidation of foundation granting cycles from three cycles to two cycles. Entergy Charitable Foundation 2014 grant application deadlines are Feb. 1 and Aug. 1. To access guidelines and an application from the Entergy Charitable Foundation, go to “Our Community” at www.entergy.com.

Walmart, Sam’s Club in Little Rock area hosting Flu vaccine clinics

Walmart customers and Sam’s Club members who have not yet received their flu shots can do so at select store and club locations in the Little Rock area.

Walmart and Sam’s Club pharmacists will administer flu shots for individuals 18 and older. In addition to flu shots, Walmart and Sam’s Club pharmacists are able to provide immunizations for the top vaccines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention including:

  • Pneumonia (pneumococcal)
  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Chickenpox (varicella)
  • HPV (human papilloma virus)
  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
  • Meningitis (meningococcal)
  • Shingles (herpes zoster)
  • Tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough

SBA seeks nominations for Arkansas Small Business Person of the Year,  Small Business Champions

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (SBA) The U.S. Small Business Administration Arkansas District Office is seeking successful and inspiring entrepreneurs to represent Arkansas during SBA’s 2014 Small Business Week.  Nominations are due January 17, 2014.

“This is the time to honor an outstanding entrepreneur in your area.  Small business owners are so important to the strength of our country, and these awards provide an opportunity to celebrate their success,” said Yolanda Garcia Olivarez, SBA Regional Administrator.  Olivarez heads Region VI which serves more than 3.3 million entrepreneurs in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.  “Each day these men and women overcome obstacles with creativity and perseverance, and help create jobs for themselves and others.”

Sykes Morrilton raises over $2,000 for American Heart Association

MORRILTON, Ark. (Sykes) -  Sykes Morrilton has been participating in raising money for the American Heart Association.  The overall goal that was given to the site by Sykes Corporate office was $1,800. 

The acting site director Mr Rob Woodruff advised the employees at the site that if they met and exceeded this goal he would spend 24 hours on the roof in a tutu and hair bow.  He stated that the new goal would be $2,500. 

Our employees went above and beyond and raised around $2,515 for this great cause.  Mr. Woodruff went up on the roof today at 2:30pm and will stay until tomorrow at 2:30 pm. 

We are very proud of our employees that always step up to the plate for a good cause.

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - Every Wednesday is Food Truck Day in the Jacksonville Farmer's Market.

Food Truck Wednesday happens from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Wednesday at #9 Municipal Drive, which is south of the community center.

Jacksonville Parks and Recreation information and marketing manager Marlo Jackson said you can find a varitey of good eats there from BBQ, pizza, and hot dogs to chicken and waffles.
